For public events, refunds are available until 72 hours before the event begins. A 10% charge will be deducted from the refund, in order to cover the payment processing fee and the extra time spent filling the empty spot. You may opt to obtain credit toward a future workshop for the full amount instead, valid for one year from the date of cancellation.
Refunds are not available after the 72 hour period. Instead you will be issued credit toward a future workshop for the full amount you paid, valid for one year from the date of cancellation. If you would like to obtain credit toward a future workshop, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the event begins. Credits are not available after the 24 hour period.
See below for special considerations in the event of severe weather.
Please note that partner events may have different refund policies.
Consultations, private tours, and speaking engagements have their own policies. Please see the services page for more information.

All Four Season Foraging events require participants to sign a waiver of liability and photo release. You do not need to print off the waiver yourself—paper copies will be provided the day of the event. The language in the waiver is standard legal language for insurance purposes, but please contact us if you have any questions.
Please note that event partners may have their own waiver, or the linked waiver above may be modified for partner events.

In the event of extreme or severe weather, the event may be canceled or rescheduled. A credit toward a future workshop will be issued for the full amount you paid.

Come ready to learn! The Four Season Foraging workshop model focuses on establishing new foragers and inspiring experienced ones, as well as creating a space where people can learn to interact with urban and rural wild places in meaningful and sustainable ways.
Since it is not possible to learn everything there is to know about foraging in a single workshop, Four Season Foraging classes are meant to lay the foundation, spark curiosity, and provide you with trustworthy resources to develop your foraging practice.
Some classes have a particular focus, but expect to discuss identification, harvesting, and preparation of wild edibles, as well as general foraging principles such as sustainability and legality. There are many, many wild edibles on the landscape and there is always a lot to talk about!

Children are welcome at most Four Season Foraging classes. The event description will state age limits or suggested ages. Most classes have a suggested age of 14 and up, because the material is geared toward adults. We let caretakers decide if it's appropriate to bring children to class. Some factors to consider are: can the child walk the necessary distance; or if not, are you okay with carrying them? Does the child have an attention span for spending a couple to several hours at a class? Can the child handle adverse weather like rain or buggy conditions? Will the child disrupt other participants? Are you okay with leaving early in case the child is really not having a good time?
Kids 12 and under attend for free with a paying guardian. Please note the number of children on the registration form.
We occasionally hold intergenerational events aimed at families. If you would like a workshop tailored specifically for your family, consider booking Four Season Foraging for a private tour!

Sorry, but no pets please!

It depends! There are several factors that affect whether or not we will pick wild edibles, including location, weather, seasonality, legality, and sustainability. The event description will state if we might have the opportunity to harvest certain species.
However, harvesting is never guaranteed! The focus of our workshops is to provide quality education, empowering you to become a more confident forager.
If you would like a foraging event that focuses more on harvesting, consider booking us for a private foraging tour.

Most workshops take place in Minneapolis. Rural foraging workshops usually take place within an hour of the Twin Cities. The event description states the approximate location. The exact meeting place will be sent to registrants in an email a few days before the event begins.
Some locations may require a parking fee.
